If home schooling is not allowed in Germany, the best way to make things change is to advocate not fleeing the country and come to the United States as did Mr. Romeike. Americans did fight to get homeschooling; they did fight for what they thought could make them happy or build their happiness. Therefore, it is too easy for Mr. Romeike to come and enjoy the happiness born of harsh fights.
What example is the well-educated Mr. Romeike giving to his children, he who wants to teach them at home as he considered his country’s educational system as not functioning properly? Yes, he came to a country where he is free to teach whatever he needs to his kids, and his children would certainly act like him in the future if they meet some kind of difficulties as their father did not show them how to advocate, how to be engaged in order to achieve a goal.
As long as Mr. Romeike cares about what his children are learning, he should advocate for changes. He should advocate changing Germany’s mindset about homeschooling. It is not too late. Mr. Romeike could still go back to Germany and make things change. That will stay crafted in his children’s mindset. No other act will be worth that.
