Seat Belts and Lawsuits

Americans love lawsuits. And if seat belts are required on school buses that will mean lawsuits against drivers.

Is a driver able to keep his eyes on the road and also insure kids keep their seat belts? That is almost impossible. But because he will not be able to do that, that means a lawsuit against him as some parents will argue that it is his responsibility to insure their kids have buckled their seat belt.

What about if a child does use his or her belt to hit another student? Of course, here again, it is a lawsuit against the driver. Another case, let us assume that a bus has to be evacuated and it does not happen quickly because of the time it takes to get everyone unbuckled? Who will be held for responsible ? The driver. And again, another lawsuit against him.

Poor bus drivers! If seat belts are needed on school buses, schools need to hire more people. People that will insure that children have buckled their belt. But are they ready for lawsuits if accidents happen? Maybe the employment will push them to take some risks.
